Rachel Waterman is a thinker, published author, award winning researcher, professional artist and mother of two with over 25 years of community development and grant writing experience. Rachel is Grant Professional Certified (GPC), a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a Grant Professionals Association (GPA) Approved Trainer, and CEO of Global Development Solutions – also known as GDS Grants – a grant consulting and research firm offering a gold standard level of service to organizations both in the US and abroad.
She holds a master’s degree in community and economic development with a concentration in applied social research from Illinois State University, a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Barry University, and speaks Spanish and Portuguese fluently. Her career has
encompassed a broad spectrum of professional experiences, including serving three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic, to her work as a nonprofit executive director, city master planner, consultant, coach and Mayor of the city of Lake Worth Beach, Florida.
Rachel is an expert grant writer, outcomes analyst, and has conducted numerous community, social, and economic impact analyses for local nonprofits and municipalities including Miami Dade College, Miami Book Fair (the largest literary festival in the country), SunFest (Florida’s largest waterfront music and art festival), Palm Beach County HeadStart, and Leesburg

She travels the world speaking and doing social research, nonprofit training and grant writing seminars where she shares her proven strategies for successful grant writing and grant management. Rachel has conducted seminars with the Carengie Corporation in New York City, National Peace Corps Association in Washington DC, Projet Chela in Los Angeles, the Greater Miami Festivals & Events Association in Miami, City of Hope in St. Marc, Haiti, and the Otter Project in Armacao, Brasil, among others. Now that learning has gone virtual, Rachel has formally launched online Professional Development opportunities accessible to everyone, including internships for beginner grant writers, fellowships for college students registered in accredited universities and mentorships for nonprofit professionals looking for support reaching their grant goals.
